The instinct, the love and the earth

‘It’s gonna take a lot to drag me away from you / there’s nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do / I bless the rains down in Africa / I bless the rains down in Africa…’ (Toto, Africa, 1982)

It is said that once you have seen Africa the desire to see her again is strong enough to 'hurt'. The land of Africa is associated with all that is instinctive and wild. Primal, like the majestic beasts and birds that dwell there or the unique vegetation that is able to survive the hot, insidious climate.

Although difficult, life in Africa remains the subject of nostalgia and inspiration: today it serves as the starting point for the M Missoni Spring 2014 prints collection,.

In the new collection, animal fantasy reigns supreme but is re-imagined in  bright, almost fluorescent tones. M Missoni's reinvention of the stripe keeps the black vertical streaks reminiscent of  the horizontal streaks found on zebra prints. This pattern can mix with other animal prints and act as a background, or the yellow streaks may recall the elegance of the coat of the tiger.

But that's not all. M Missoni has taken the colors from the crystalline oceans  surrounding Africa and  matched blended them with calico pattern giving the effect that recalls waves dancing in a seabed.

The shape and material accompanying the zebra striped knit dress, wide sleeves and a V-neck t-shirt reminiscent of sportswear, make this an outfit suitable for any occasion thanks to its comfort and versatility.

Even closer to the Safari style is the military parka outfit with zebra striped skirt, here, 'exploration' is the key word. The ruffle skirt adds an impression of discreet femininity waiting to be discovered.
