THE OVERSIZED COAT TREND: HOW TO SUCCESSFULLY MASTEREXPLORE NOW
SPRING SUMMER 2016
Playfully upbeat, perfect for sparking both smiles and dreams, bringing a sense of humor to the forefront: that's the Spring Summer 2016 M Missoni collection, referencing to the wonderful world of the circus.
This magical universe with fabulous array of characters, costumes & apparatus influences the entire collection, inspiring a multiplicity of revisitations, surprisingly unusual.
From the circus comes a spirit of freedom, that gives the definition firstly to styles & shapes: as in above-the-knee skirts and comfort fit ankle cropped pants. The beading on the costumes of acrobat trapeze artists becomes jacquard pindots creating splashy constellations on the clothes. Equally beguiling is the swirl of tamers, trapeze artists, animal pedestals, circus pins, balls and stars informing quasi-surreal prints on duchesse, crepe and cotton stretch poplin fabrics, either for coats & jackets or as “foulard” inserts on tops and on form-fit or loose-fit sweaters. Can a circus inspired palette of colors be anything but kaleidoscopic? Surely not, so pink plays with deep green and also quite creatively with fuchsia. Likewise, purple, acid green, orange and teal interact explosively in defining the season's looks.
The same amazing appeal identifies the items in lurex, where horizontal rows of “beads” reminiscent of trapeze artist costumes work nicely in combining yarns of different gauges and colors to form mainly ripple patterns. Gorgeous wide or narrow vertical striping cuts across dresses and jumpsuits, while relief designs have pure graphic fun with circus pins as they split in two along the bottom of skirts and dresses.
